Red Hot Chili Peppers to end hiatus and work on a new album

Don't look so sad Kiedis, you're coming back!
The Red Hot Chili Peppers recently revealed that they are almost ready to start work on a new album following a two-year hiatus.
Drummer Chad Smith told Billboard the band are thinking of recording their tenth album in October 2009. He said: “Everybody was like, ‘Y’know, I really like having this time off, not being a Chili Pepper and doing other things…’. It’ll be two years in September [since we played any shows together], so now we’re ready. You can’t force people to play when they don’t want to play or aren’t ready to play or whatever – not in our band, anyway.
The group hasn’t chosen a producer yet, though it’s likely Rick Rubin, who helmed their previous five records, will return to the reins. Speaking about the sound they’re going for, Chad said: ”[We'll] do a lot of improvising and jamming and songs will come out of that, too. That’s what we usually do. I don’t know why it would be different.”
The Red Hot Chili Peppers’ last release was Stadium Arcadium back in 2006.
