Cold Souls: Paul Giamatti - "you seriously want me to get in there?"

The first trailer for Sophe Barthes’ highly-regarded new film Cold Souls has just hit the internet.

Nominated for last year’s Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival, Cold Souls stars Paul Giamatti (Sideways) David Strathairn (Good Night and Good Luck) and Emily Watson (Synecdoche New York) in a surreal comedy where fantasy and reality become one.

Paul Giamatti plays himself, agonizing over his interpretation of Uncle Vanya. Paralysed by anxiety, he stumbles upon a solution via a New Yorker article about a high-tech company promising to alleviate suffering by extracting souls. Giamatti enlists their service only to discover that his soul is the shape and size of a chickpea. His intention is to reinstate it once he survives the performance, but complications ensue when a mysterious, soul-trafficking “muleâ€? borrows Giamatti’s stored soul for an ambitious, but unfortunately talentless, Russian soap-opera actress.
