Orlando and Keira turn down Pirates 4

Orlando: "Hold on, Keira, I'll only stay if you do!"

Orlando: "Hold on, Keira, I'll only stay if you do!"

Digital Spy is reporting that Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley will not star alongside Johnny Depp in the upcoming fourth installment of Pirates of the Carribean.

A source told the News of the World: “Orlando loved the films but thinks it’s time to bow out because they tied up nicely for his character. The producers are okay with that because they want to concentrate on the new adventures of Johnny Depp’s Captain Jack Sparrow.”

Knightley was also recently quoted saying: ” “It was a completely fantastic experience, and it was an amazingly large portion of my life, but I don’t think I need to go there again. I think that it’s done. I’m very excited to see the next one. And [Depp] is so wonderful in that character. I think it’ll be wonderful.”

We’re skeptical now as to whether Disney should go ahead with a fourth installment. Though Depp played a fantastic Jack Sparrow in all three previous films, it just might not have the same universal appeal without crowd favourites Bloom and Knightley’s continuing troubled romance story. What do you think?

The as-yet-untitled fourth installment of Pirates of the Caribbean is expected in cinemas in 2012 via Disney
